Msheireb Downtown, Our Community – The Msheireb Museum Inquiry: Making Connections
On Monday 8th August, the QAM Instructional Staff embarked on an inquiry using the QAM Core Values: Creative, Achieving, Responsible,
Empathetic, Solution Seekers as lenses to unpack and reflect learning. Traveling by tram, on arrival five groups focused on one particular
section of Bin Jelmood House, a tribute to formerly enslaved people and their role in the development of civilization, while two groups
focused on Company House, which tells the pioneering story of Qatar Petroleum, workers and their families, and the transformation of Qatar. On
return to campus, by tram, each group presented their learning in ways that were creative and innovative. It is essential for us to understand
ourselves and the world around us, and how the actions of others have impacted on who we are today: where we have come from and potentially
where we are headed. Using the QAM core values, and taking a deep dive into common themes at the Museums allowed staff to truly understand how
people faced and overcame diversity, and acted with courage. And, as the new academic year begins, the experience highlighted the role of the
QAM core values in nurturing students who personify each of the values and model good citizenship.
