Curriculum

Qatar Academy Msheireb curricula include English reading and writing, Arabic reading and writing, mathematics, science, Islamic Studies, Qatar National Studies, Art, Music, IT and Physical Education. Our English and Arabic reading program includes the five components of reading:  phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. These components are taught using a variety of reading materials utilizing read aloud, guided reading, shared reading, independent reading, and word study and comprehension tools to meet students’ individual learning needs.

Our English and Arabic writing curriculum includes lessons to develop narrative, information, and opinion writing. Our Arabic reading and writing programs will also follow the Ministry of Education and Higher Education standards for international schools for the three Arabic taught subjects: Arabic Language, Islamic Studies & Qatar National Studies.

Our mathematics program uses research-based instructional practices with interactive lessons and materials including on-line resources, to help students develop competency in operations and algebraic thinking, numbers and operations, measurement and data, and geometry. The Full Option Science System provides meaningful ways for students to connect with science inquiry and understand the scientific method in physical, earth, and life science.

Assessment

Assessment is a key component in a standards-based school that is focused on student achievement and learning. At QA Msheireb, teachers will use a balance of formative and summative assessments to ensure standards and benchmarks are being met and to guide classroom instruction.
